Stachetober Madness
Well, what can I say, it might be a little shock for you faithful readers, but yes, that's right, in the picture below you see a mustache!
Of course there is a good reason behind, and that is a full month of facial hair growth for the Stachetober event. Just when I got back from my holiday in Paris and The Netherlands I signed up for this seemingly crazy event organized by John Gangi, Mr. Stachetober 1998.
The rules were simple, all the attendees wouldn't shave for a whole month but would grow and groom a beatiful mustache to find sponsors to support the charity Room to Read. Have a look at the link on the side to get more information about Room to Read.
Yesterday, November 1 was the final day for us, and we all gathered at the Fringe Club rooftop to show off our staches at the runway. Bart Leyzer and I had a little surprise prepared to get things going, and we held our little mission impossible show at the catwalk. After that, all the stached were sold during an auction, and my stache that cost me a lot of embaresment, pain and time during the last month raised a whopping 500 HKD offered by Hester Lo. Hester, thank you so much for your support, and my stache is all yours!
[Dutch] Tsja, wat kan ik zeggen? Het zal wel een kleine schock voor de jullie trouwe lezers zijn, maar ja dat zie je goed, in de afbeelding hierboven zie je een snor!
Uiteraard is hier een goede reden voor, en dat is een volle maand van gezichtshaargroei voor het Stachetober evenement. Precies nadat ik terug kwam van de vakantie in Parijs en Nederland heb ik me ingeschreven voor dit wazige evenement georganiseerd door John Gangi, Mr. Stachetober 1998.
De regels waren gemakkelijk, alle deelnemers zouden zich voor een hele maand niet meer scheren maar daarvoor in de plaats een beeldige snor groeien en onderhouden. Dit om het goede doel Room to Read te ondersteunen. Klik op de link hierlangs om meer over Room to Read te weten te komen.
Gisteren, 1 november was de finale voor iedereen en zijn we allemaal bijeengekomen op het dakterras van de Fringe Club om daar op de catwalk onze snorren the showen. Bart Leyzer en ik hadden nog een kleine verrassing in petto om de boel op gang te brengen en we hielden onze kleine mission impossible show op de catwalk. Hierna werden alle snorren geveild en mijn snor die een hoop schaamte, pijn en tijd heeft gekost bracht maarliefst een knallende 500 HKD op, aangeboden door Hester Lo! Hester, nogmaals super bedankt voor je bod, en mijn snor is helemaal van jou!
It was SO much fun!!! And Room to Read is a great charity that is totally worth supporting. There should be more charity events like Statchetober!
